Lanzhou Petrochemical Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1956. Its predecessor was two national key vocational schools directly under the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Chemical Industry (Lanzhou Petroleum School and Lanzhou Chemical School), as well as two employee universities (Lanzhou Refining and Chemical University and Lanzhou Chemical Industry Company) of the former Lanzhou Refining and Chemical General Factory and Lanzhou Chemical Industry Company.
